DIY Christmas Tinsel Nails

Merry Christmas! The day has finally come: the gifts have been unwrapped, many hugs exchanged, much wow, such thanks... and with it, a lot of cleaning up to do when the decorations need to be taken down later on. If your tinsel is like mine, it likes to shed into a huge glittering pile guarded by the prickly arms of your tree much like how Smaug guards his mountain of gold. But before you set your vacuum on it, why not try this nail look? It'll give your after-Christmas cleanup some much needed spirit!

What you'll need
  • Tinsel
  • Clear and black nail polish
  • Scissors

1. Paint your nails with the black undercoat.

2. While it's still wet, place a strip of tinsel straight down the middle on every finger except the ring finger.

3. Taking two strips, place them diagonally and parallel across the nail of your ring finger.

4. Cut off the excess tinsel, and finish with your clear coat.

And it's done! This DIY is so simple you can easily add your own flair to it... you can play with colours or add diamond patterns, or even use the tinsel to spell out some letters. I love how clean and minimal it looks with gold on black, but with the huge range of coloured tinsels out there, you can make just about any combination (I'd love to try this with red!).
