DIY // Chain Bracelet

What do you do when you've got too many broken chains lying around to count? Turn them into a new bracelet (or necklace)!

What you'll need:
  • Some broken necklaces/bracelets
  • Jump rings
  • Curb chain bracelet or something similar
  • Pliers (optional - I use scissors and/or my nails :P)

1. Using a jump ring, attach your thickest chain to the curb chain.

2. If your chain is heavy or broken (like mine), secure it in the middle to the curb chain.

3. Attach another two chains to the bracelet, making sure they are thin enough to be woven through the curb chain.

4. Start weaving your smaller chains around and through the bracelet, in random directions. Make sure to wrap them around your first chain to secure it to the bracelet. Attach them to the other end with another jump ring.

5. Add in any smaller chains, weaving over the top as well as the bottom to ensure an even look. You can even leave the ends to dangle. If any parts are loose, secure by looping jump rings through the chain links.

And there you go, a new bracelet made out of old parts! Recycling at its best, I must say. Now go out and rock it with your best studded jacket, red lip and black cat-eye 'cause you're burning up the town tonight!

  1. Heya,
just found your blog! I like your ideas, please keep posting ;) BTW, I'm going to start studying chemistry...and I am a DIYer as well :D Scientists seem to need creativity to balance the hard logic around. ^^

    1. I definitely agree! Sometimes we need to stop thinking about entropy and equilibrium reactions and just do something creative! I think you'll enjoy studying chemistry - it's the one place where you get to see awesome explosions in class :)
